I AM PARACHUTES
It is easy to slip into thinking of Parachutes as a place. However, it is not the location or its décor or its activities that make Parachutes; it is people. Those people welcome in the teens. Those people reflect Jesus. Those people have the conversations that change lives. They may happen in a room, a building, a neighborhood, and a strip mall, but the physical just contains the people and the Spirit of God that makes Parachutes what it is.
Located on Lake Otis Parkway in Anchorage, Alaska, Parachutes is a drop-in center for teens, ages thirteen to eighteen. Parachutes has various activities such as video games, pool, computers, ping-pong, a small café, special events and most importantly - caring adult volunteers who want to share their lives with teens.
Parachutes is a place where kids can feel safe from the hardships of life. The teens that stop in come from diverse backgrounds and ethnicity, but the common thread with many is that they have an unstable or unhealthy home environment.
At Parachutes we welcome teens of all backgrounds.
